Ian was just coming to, and he was greeted warmly by the others.  He then said, "Strange...I remember going to the gates of heaven with you, but why and what happened after is a blank to me.  I wake up in my bed as if everything is okay."

He hesitated for a moment, and then remembered 'sister,' which would make him a brother of sorts, and he said, "Oh, so you're a god like them?"
