"No," she protested, "I sent them people to teach them, but they would not listen.  I tried again and again.  I tried to give them grace, but they abused it.  Yes, I chose to do it, but only because they would not listen the ways that did not involve this.  It is my prerogative to do this if they will not listen and accept the grace I gave them.  They danced to the tune, now it's time to pay the piper."

[Auir]

"There are many other ways to do it, why have you not tried those?" she asked.

[paladin313]

"I've sent teachers, scientists, philosophers, politicians, even took out a few public service announcements.  What else?"

[Auir]

She pointed at her.

"You. It's you, you're the one that wants to see change happen right? No one else can do that but you. And, you must do it in human form."

[paladin313]

"In human form?  Why?"

[Auir]

"Because, trust is a two way thing."

[paladin313]

"Are you saying I have to introduce myself to the humans and tell them why I am upset?"

[Trace Carter]

"wouldn't hurt."

[Auir]

"Well, something like that."

[paladin313]

"How would they listen to me?  What would make me saying it different?"

[Auir]

"They won't, and it makes all the difference. You can't talk to them on another level, that'll only scare them and drive them further. But this way, you'll have a chance."

[paladin313]

She frowned and said, "But...  But...  But what about a goddess' prerogative to judge when the humans have been naughty?"

[Trace Carter]

Z shrugged, "I never heard about that."

[Auir]

"We live in the present now, it's time to move on."

[paladin313]

"Nonononononono," she insisted, "There is still a place for divine retribution."
