It was now Banpei#2 in lead, followed by Banpei#1 and Keiichi.

Kei was itching to go for the overtake button, but Bell said, "Save them for later.  You may need it, knowing the tricks Skuld has up her sleeve."
     Chihiro then said, "Okay, pull the next car in and see how they handle it."

[Auir]

Banpei pulled in Banpei #2 and had it sit in the pit stop.

Kei tried to time his move to that and approached Banpei 1

[Auir]

"Eh? You're not going to get past me!" Skuld tried to move Banpei #1 in front of Keiichi.

Tamiya saw that, and radioed to her, "Careful: had you made it look like you were going to let him by and then cut him off, that would be called blocking, and you would have been penalized."
     Kei saw the move and just pulled in right behind her bumper, trying to draft on her, and use that to slingshot past when they came out of the next turn.

[Auir]

"Tch..." she then maneuvered the car so she could stay in front of his car.

"Kiddo," said Chihiro, "There are rules to racing, because it is so dangerous.  One wrong move, and it could mean death for a driver, even something that seems minor.  It is what killed Dale Earnheart the very next year after he had finally won the Daytona after so many second place finishes."

[Auir]

"Oh..." said Skuld, realizing that while she may be safe on the bleachers, Keiichi wasn't.

[paladin313]

"He swerved into the wall on the last lap and hit it just right.  It snapped his neck!"

[Auir]

"I get it."  said Skuld.

"It's not like playing a game, it's really dangerous for him out there on the track. I'll be careful."

[paladin313]

"So, you understand how vital this training is.  He won't be facing two other cars, there will be 35 others on that super speedway, and it will be pack racing, because on a track like that, the rules people have them put governors on the cars, not permitting the cars above 200 mph for fear they may leave the track and flip."

[Auir]

"Hmm... So, we have to train him to where he can safely drive pass a pile-up?" asked Skuld.

[paladin313]

"Well, it can happen.  Sometimes, in a close race, if a young and inexperienced driver loses it, he can cause a chain reaction wreck that drivers often call 'the big one.'  If that, happens, he has to try to get past that, even if he gets bumped.  Even if he gets hit hard, if his car can still operate, he can get back into the race, but he has to know how to get through that mess.  However, there are only three cars, and I am wondering just how you can simulate 'the big one.'"

[Auir]

"Simple, like this!" she pressed a button. The back of Banpei #1 opened up to reveal a salvo of rockets.

"Heh heh, and fire!" she said as the rockets were launched into the air. They struck the ground randomly and exploded into green and red clouds that quickly solidified into gel.
