Earth's status in the Galactic Union

This poll is focus on Earth's status in the Galactic Union.  This tpoic is focus on the Earth's status in the Galactic Union. I decided to divide the topic into two sections.  The two sections focus on Earth' s status according to the resource book "Tenchi Muyo Rpg and Resource Book," and what happen as a result of the events in OVA 3.  TMRR contains one of the most reliable references about the status of the planer Earth.  The  two sections are Before OVA 3 and OVA 3 and after.

Before OVA 3

According the the reference in the TMRR Book, Earth is known to the Galactic Union as Colonial Planet 0-315..  The planet is legally a subject world of the planet Jurai.  Jurai has desginated the Earth's solar system as a Special Protection Zone.  The vast majority of Earth's Inhabitants are completely unaware of the Galactic Union, and Earth's governments routinely denied the truth to rumors of collaration or contact with aliens.  Neverless. there has been secret contact between high level officals and the House of Jurai. Yosho also possesses his own politicalcontacts within the Japanese government which have help effectively to keep his imortality a secret.(by changing birth/death records for example)

The Galaxy Police assigns an officer to patrol the Earth's solar system to ensure that no one tresspasses in the Specail Protection Zone or engage in combative action threating the Earth.  Currentily the officer assigned to that duty is Mihoshi.

The G.P. officer have only limit authority on Earht and may not delibrately visit the it without written permission from the House of Jurai. Mihoshi's presence on Earth is authorized because of Tenchi's invitation to stay with his family. In theory, Yosho is the senior representative of Jurai on Earth, but there may be other Jurain or Galactic Union agents(human or alien) operating undercover on the planet either to maintain high level diplmatic links with Earth's governemnts or to keep an eye on Tenchi and his friends.

Most of the material from the TMRR book is reliable information.  Earth is technically a colony of Jurai.  Yet, the planet seems to be an insignificant backwater planet located near major commerical routes.  The Jurain Colony on Earth was likely a result of a Colony Space vessel crashing on the Earth sometime during the Earth's history.  Some members of the Colony were members from the Masaki House. The Colonists were likely  out of contact with Jurai for a period of time.

The Earth is already known in the Galactic Union.  Mainly the Earth is known as Colonial World 0-315 as well as an oddity.  If it wasn't  for the Jurain colony, Earth would have likely be seen as an insignificant backwater world near major commerical routes.  The Jurain Colony is the main reason why the Earth is well known to the Galactic Union.

There are a lot of people who have immigrated to the Galactic Union. Most of the immigrants were invited to immigrate from the Earth only  for specific reasons.  Kiriko Masaski was allow to join the Galaxy Police as a result of Katsuhito's influence.  While Seina's admission to the Galaxy Police Academy was an exception as well as the  immigrants.,  there is a law which prohibits any person from being recruirted by the Galaxy Police. Some products from Earth are well known.   Popcorn, chocolate, and carrots are the examples of Earth's products.

Before the events of OVA 3, Earth will likely be seen as Colonial World 0-135 and as an oddity.  Earth's influence in the Galactic Union is strictly limited to the few imigrants and products like carrots,chocolate, and popcorn.  By the time of OVA 3, the status of Earth has been drasticlally increased. Still, the nature of Earth's increase status has been a carefully guarded secret.

OVA 3 and after

The events of OVA 3 have transformed the power status of Earth into the third greatest concentration of power in the Galctic Union.  Only the Jurain Empire and the Seniwan Empire have been the two major powers in the Galactic Union. The main reasons for Earth being the third major concentration of power has been a result of Tenchi, Ayeka, Ryoko, Ryo-Ohki, and Washu and her two sisters Tsunami and Lady Tokomi.  So far, Earth's status as the third major power has been kept a well kept secret. 

When Tarant Shank has tried to kidnap Seina Yamada's family, he had thought that there was not threat to his plan from Earth. Shank was stop by Tenchi and the rest of the gang.   Shank was unaware of the presence of Tenchi and rest of the gang. 

Sometime in the future,  Earth will become aware of the existance of the Galactic Union after contact. Almost of the people of the Earth will want their world to become an associate member of the Galctic Union.  Jurai will continue to be Earth's representive to the Galactic Union until the palnet is ready for full membership..  Despite of what the Earth wanting it status to be an associate member until it is ready for full membership, there is a strong chance that Earth will one day become a major power in the Galactic Union.

It is likely that the government of Earth will be a Federal Republican-type government.  There are still a few problems with any style of government.  The Earth government will be divided into three branches like the United States has. The Three branches are the Executive Branch, the Legistative Branch, and the Judical Banch.   The Legistative Branch likely be call the Senate.  The Senate represents all of the counties.  The head of the Executive will be known as the President

The people of Earth may still want to have a Constitutional Monarchy.  A Constitutiona Monarchy for Earth will have its share of problems.  The people of Earth may not want the Monach to have the same level of powers which Emperor Azusa has.  The Monarch will be seen as a ceremonial ruler like Queen Elizabeth and the current Japanese emperor.

The type of government which the people of Earth don't want is the type which the Seniwan Empire has.  The government of the Seniwan Empire seem to be an oligarchy.  The ruling family of the Seniwan Empire is the Kuramitsu Family.  The Kuramitsu Family does  have a lot of power and influence in the government.  The Family is well aware of the limits of its powes and influence. 

The government of the Seniwan Empire is a lot like a Consitutional Monarchy without the monarch.  The government is a little confusing to the people from Earth.  The government of the Seniwan Empire may be a representive democracy.  There are some terms which describe the type of government control by a single family like the Kuramitsu Family.

I thought the Kuramitsu Clan were just high nobility and that the imperial family were someone else? Also, if Earth became a constitutional monarchy under the G.U, who would be the monarch? Would Tenchi or another Masaki be on the throne?

I really have trouble seeing all the disparate nations on Earth accepting an unelected Monarch to represent them no matter who he or she is, not unless Tenchi did something drastic like turn Earth into a Trekesque post scarcity society.  Now some of form Federation, that I can see.

This is where IMO Seina comes very handy. Unlike Tenchi who is pretty much an unknown nobody, Seina has been publicly televised throughout the whole galaxy with his heroics and that crazy wedding fiasco. I'd think Seina has a better chance to get voted for simply being known.

Plus with his wives who range from an heiress to a mega corporation to a Juraian Princess, those are some vast economic links Earth could gain through them.

Bears repeating that would make for an interesting setting for a fanfic. How would Jurai's rivals such as Airai or Seniwa view Earth's entry into the GU. After all Jurai is bringing essentially another one of their puppet states to the GU.

I think Seniwa from this point on are pretty set. They have placed both a male and female member directly into the Juraian inner circle, so as long as the "what's yours is mine" mutual agreement stays in place and can count on each other as allies, Seniwa should be cool. Airai is the tough nut to crack, but then again, they just butthurt with Jurai with anything they can think of. Maybe Tokimi can go visit them and make them cool off, maybe seeing that other goddesses exist and willing to work with them might ease their tension.

But isn't that concentration based solely on Tenchi's household? What happens if they decide to leave Earth? Would Seina's circle be able to fill that place if they stayed on Earth?

Tenchi will likely become Earth's first Ambassador to Jurai.  By the time of contact, Tenchi will be well aware of the Customs of Jurai, and the Protocol of the Royal Court.  As Earth Ambassador, Tenchi will have a very good reason to leave the planet Earth.  After  Contact,  Tenchi's household will likely have problems with the  increase attention from all forms of the media.

By the time of Contact, Tenchi will have a rather large family.  Most  of Tenchi's children will stay associated with  Earth for several reasons. So there is a chance that Tenchi's household will leave Earth for Jurai.  By becoming Earth's first Ambassador, Tenchi will have a stronger reason to continue stay on Jurai after he retires from being Earth's first Ambassador.

When it comes to the status of Earth's power in the Galactic Union, Earth is going to become a major player.  Even when it wants to be an Associate member of the Galactic Union.  By episode 20,  Earth already has the third greatest concentration of power in the Known Universe.  Washu, Tsunami, and Lady Tokimi are three of the reasons for Earth having such a concentration of power.

We don't know when Contact will occur between the Earth and the Galactic Union.  Earth is already well known in the Galactic Union. More likely as an oddity.  Only a few higher government officals and  a few other people are well aware of the Galactic Union's existance.  There have been some people who were able to leave the planet Earth for several reasons.  Kiriko and Tennyo are two examples of the emmigrants from Earth.

I am doing a fanfiction project which focuses on some elements of how Earth will one day become a major player in the Galactic Union.  The fanfiction story is focus on Tenchi's oldest son.  Like his father, Tenchi's oldest son is going to have a haem.
