What did you like/hate?

The manga exclusive characters were nice!

I wish I could get a hold of it, it's ridiculously expensive over here.

It should be available for download on bakabt.me - pretty nice little private tracker because they keep careful tabs on who's actually seeding and how much. They just don't host torrents for stuff licensed by Funimation and others like them.  (So glad I snagged a good copy of Katanagatari before it got yoinked.)

In fact, here you go:

That should do you.  Enjoy!

More on-topic, I did very much enjoy the expanded cast of characters, though it kinda irked me that Aeka was the damsel in distress no less than four times (!?!?) over the course of this manga.  Seriously, can we have a story arc where Tenchi comes to the rescue, only to find that the Princess as rescued herself and is quite content with the situation?

But yeah, Minagi was adorable - like the twin-sister of Ryoko that Washu wished she'd had.  ;)

I was also rather fond Yume - Washu's adversary-colleague, though the idea she came from a sterile upbringing was kinda boring, so her backstory in my headcanon is a bit... different.  :p

And then there was the whole Dark Washu-chan...  You might think it's predictable at first, but then the plot started going to some interesting places.  I loved it and the outcome.

Garyu was perfectly despicable.  He made me go all kinds of :christ: with his :rape: shenanigans.  While he was understandable as a villain, he was still perfectly detestable.  Which is perfect, really, when you think about it!  :bravo:

Really, the mangas are a goldmine of character development, and in my headcanon they come between OVAs 2 and 3.

With the manga, I liked with the new characters as well.  The art-style worked well the cast.  Nobody looked out of place/weird to me.  There was considerably more action - (as in, Tenchi & crew fighting battles in the battle gear that you really didn't see all that often in the OVAs) - than the OVAs so there's that which I liked.  It also seemed fleshed out and not rushed.  Considering it has 20+ volumes total.  The comedic-harem type atmosphere took over more often than the somberness that was prevalent sometimes in some of the anime series which if fine considering that it never seemed to try to be over-dramatic for drama's sake for long periods of time.  Actually, looking through one of the volumes randomly, there is some drama but as a whole it seemed *spotted* over the volume, but this could be due to the pace I was reading it.  (I ready pretty fast.)

I loved everything about the manga the stories and the characters themselves with different bad guys when I saw kagato's apprentice as the last villain in the tenchi volume it was so dark since she made a replica of tenchi's mom and broke up the girls in the end they won and ayeka and ryoko became closer and all they cared about was tenchis happiness which is great and then we saw washu turn into a goddess but ryoko took over being the main role to saving tenchi and ayeka got left behind until she had to save ryoko and accept tenchi with her by saying  "tenchi hates you then he can hate me too" admitting how close they are and agree to protect tenchi at all cost in order to help her finish of the enemy by going through them that was dark and the fact that the kiyone replica grabbed ryokos heart and tenchis and was crushing it made me feel like my heart was being crushed the same way and then she rip herself away from replica kiyones grasp was so brutal it hough ryoko was going to die right there and then the way she looked at tenchi in pain and tenchi looking back at her reaching and calling out to her tell you a lot of how she is in love with him and how far she will got to protect him best way to end the series right there and the dark wash arc was so great i  loved how ryoko clearly said that even if washu ordered her to do one thing and that was to "order her to kill" which washu would never do ryoko knew from there who her mother was clay screwed up a lot on that and you see how ryoko does care for her mother theres a lot character development and dark themes but the series is great even the plot comedy

I need to re-read the manga because it's been a few years. As far as an alternate tale to the Tenchi timeline I think it worked out fairly well and if Okuda was given another shot to make a new manga story I'd be more than all for it.
This is not a sig, it's a Sandwich.

I like the characters of Hiwa Takahashi (Tenchi's childhood friend), she would have made a nice permanent addition to the cast as an earth girl interested in Tenchi, and Asahi (Ayeka and Sasami's childhood friend).  Not a fan of Yume over Naja Akara.

I also like the episode where Tenchi buys Washu a dress for her birthday, wish she got a kiss as well.

I really disliked how weak and spineless Okuda made Tenchi, there are multiple times when the girls are in trouble and Yosho had to practically push him into battle.  That only happened once in the OAV, episode 4 sauna where Ryoko summons a demon she doesn't have the additional gem to control and Tenchi was quite honestly over his head, but never again even when Kagato came he tried even if completely over his head; only lamenting he couldn't control Tenchi-ken.  "I would rather die than forsake any one of them." - Tenchi, episode 6.  Keeping Tenchi at his OAVep1-4 behavior when he's 15 and which he grew out of is what I hate in all AUs.  Which is odd because Okuda started Tenchi quite strong moralely in the beginning, like against Minagi's father; and he just started declining into perpetual OOC weakness somewhere along the way.

I stopped reading regularly at the Garyu arc, where Ayeka goes missing some weeks and after that they do is put lame-ass posters on the telephone polls like she's a missing cat.   :emot-vd:  I seriously think if Ayeka goes missing some hours, they'd start looking for her and after 24h, Tenchi and Sasami would call in the might of the entire Jurain empire, Mihoshi the GXP, and Washu probably is proactively tracking the whole family anyway 500 different ways to Monday - she already lost one family, she's not going to take chances with her new one.

I'd rank it above other AU TMs - it's more original than TU and closer to the spirit of the show and characters than Tenchi Forever, and it has enjoyable single stories, but the overall arc isn't anything that keeps me in the fandom.

His new art that pops up on holidays tenchimuyo4th.com is quite good and refreshing to see that he moved somewhat away from the pointy cheeks; I never was a fan of that art style.

Dropped before even finishing volume six, and not a fuck was given.

I like some stories and some manga characters. Though Okuda could had use some of his ideas better. Like why the hell Hiwa never becomes a recurring character after she is saved. Seriously, the fucking wolf that saved Sasami make a second appearance and not her? Why the fuck Yume isn't in jail (I like her but not when she get away with everything). Also he killed the cute pet Aeka get and that just a horrible crime against the humanity.

What I really dislike is how he use the characters personality. Tenchi is weaker, Aeka get kidnapped all the times when that never happen in the OVA (well at least he show how strong is Aeka-Sasami relationship I do like when Aeka remember Sasami after get brainwashed and not Yosho), he makes Ryoko look better than she is many times and that mostly Aeka-Tenchi-Ryoko love triangle but in the future Tenchi marry Sasami because she is the most popular girl in Japan.

The artwork is nice and also fuck that french translated who ruined the jokes about the boy and his father in the cook conquest that look like Kagato by translated they look like Ryoko. WTF.

Never could get into this manga. This, along with Hasegawa's novels, seemed to codify the shitty characterizations that TU would later use. I also found the stories I read really shallow and poorly written. Like the Hiwa story. Hiwa is a really likable character, but Okuda doesn't reallydo as much with her as he should have. She's suppose to be this great childhood friend of Tenchi's, yet we see very little of their actual relationship, and the story focuses more on the other girls' reactions to her. Not an example of good writing.
