[Trace Carter]

"I just want a happy family," sighed Kazi, "Growing up in hell was tough.  I mean sure I had mom, but most of the other demons looked down on me every chance they could get away with it."

[paladin313]

Confused, she said, kindly, "I am sorry, but please excuse my asking...did you just hear anything I said?"

[Trace Carter]

"I heard," said Kazi, "but it doesn't mean anything if my sister won't acknowledge me."

[paladin313]

((I thought she had.  I thought we went through this.))

"Okay then," she said, "What I meant is, unlike gods and demons, you have a choice which side of yourself you serve.  Ian is not bound to us.  He can be of us, or choose to be human, though he would still have to control his powers.  You can do that do.  Urd could choose to be of us or of your side.  We do not have that choice."

[Trace Carter]

"I guess I'm just jealous of you,"

[paladin313]

"It is us that should be jealous of you," she answered, "You can choose which way you wish to go, your mother cannot.  Mind you, I do not think she would want this different, but, at the same time, I think she is a bit jealous of you as well and of Urd because of the ability to choose which side you wish to be on."

[Trace Carter]

"I've chosen my side," said Kazi, "I could never be just a human."

[paladin313]

"Your mother does love you," said Belldandy, "As does your sister.  Moreover, the way is made clear for Urd to say so, so why do you not try?"

[Trace Carter]

"I'm scared, I guess," said KAzi.

[Auir]

"Sooo, are we still going to the beach?" asked Skuld, looking at the group expectantly.

[paladin313]

"You fear rejection," she said with a smile, "Well, know this: if that ever happened, you can make the other choice and be with us.  Tell me, have you had the bonding ceremony yet?  If not, the option would still be there."

Ian put her on his shoulders and said, "Just get ready to ride this surf board with me."

[Trace Carter]

"Bonding Ceremony?" asked Kazi curiously.

[paladin313]

"you know," she said, "It is where you have a mutual bond made with the other side where, if you try to attack and hurt one of our own, it could kill a demon, and vice versa, and it may even be yourself.  The reason for that is the whole ceremony, once done, is wiped from your mind.  Therefore, you do not know with whom you are bonded.  It is called the Doubling System.  In fact, you may have already had the Doubling Ceremony, you just do not remember.  This system keeps one side from trying to annihilate one another."

[Trace Carter]

"I don't recall," said KAzi.

[paladin313]

"If it has happened, you will not remember," she said, "But the point is that, if that ceremony has happened, then there is no changing sides, or there is not without grave consequences."
