I think FAQS answer 45 may by not right

Because she uses a different calendar.

since I was born... Born?" (ep.6, Ryoko). But Washu was confined for 5000
years. Is it a mistake in the anime? (^_^;)
No. Washu used time calculated in year of Earth while Ryoko used her own

time scale. Ryoko was subconsciously trying to deny her age. After all a mere
2000
is much younger than 5000 years old. If she adjusted her time scale to that
of Earth, this gap wouldn't have occurred. In conclusion, Ryoko is 5000
years
old in Earth year. All other characters' age is calculated in Galactic
Standard Calendar. For example, Washu's age (20000 years old) is in this
standard.

I think this point is "done some thing wrong" by some one name Hiroki Hayashi
on first ova ep1-6. in that time AIC declare TENCHI work is create by 2 new young anime staff

after done many ep; every one agree this work is original by mr. masaki only
then 2000 year of Ryoko character and ages is may come from girl name Jeannie from
"I Dream of Jeannie" that both of then love so much and done Ryoko character type before on
Anime sequences name ICZER (iczer iii).

then actual ages of Ryoko that first create by WASHU (of mr. masaki) is around 5000
and no something that like "Galactic Standard Calendar"

after that mr. Hiroki Hayashi was kick out from TENCHI OVA and done something else.

is he no good ? no ! he is a very good animator
I love other of his work too.
