And here I thought it was just Naja that had gender identity issues. 

" Ryoko and Ayeka's fights sure have matured." 　
the two often bumped heads but Ryoko was fond of Sasami and Ayeka fond of Ryo-Ohki.

This chapter is full of awww moments, especially how everyone takes turns comforting a teary Ryo-Ohki after her long trip return. 
I've also quietly theorized that over time Sasami's (and to a lesser degree Ayeka's) bonding with Ryo-Ohki telepathically rubbed off on Ryoko's subconscious in how she viewed the Princesses.

also makes sense ryoko tried to reach out an olive branch once ryo bonded with ayeka but ayeka was still under the impression yosho was dead....  im glad that ayeka now only affectionately fights ryoko now that the story's revealed ryoko didn't kill him or act of her own will and that ayeka wouldnt have been able to marry yosho anyways

Ryoko, saw the Ryuuou on the monitor of Ryo-Ohki as it burst out of the dock it was harbored in. She felt there was something different about it.
"Well now, That ship seems much stronger, ... I guess I can take a moment to play with them."

Ryoko was taking it easy on her. She was playing with her. Numerous energy bullets were fired from Ryo-Ohki and approached Ryuuou.
Ayeka's ship blocked then with its Light Hawk Wings again, but one bounced off and hit Ayeka's favorite garden.
"That was my favorite garden! I won't forgive you for that, you space pirate!!"
"Your favorite, huh? Hahaha"
Ryoko deliberately concentrated her attacks on the garden. The plants and trees in the garden were turned to ash instantaneously.

Ryoko remembered Ayeka who acted very angrily towards her on Jurai.
"That girl was nice. She made me smile."
It had been long time since she last smiled.
she soon found herself laughing

From what I gathered of the Yosho novel, Ryoko led a pretty empty and soul-less existence early on as Kagato's puppet. Would it not be accurate to say that her initial encounter with Ayeka on Jurai was one of the first moments of significant true joy she had experienced? It is said up until this point that other forms of stimulation did little for her and her short skirmish with Azusa was similarly unremarkable.
