Quote from: Ryo-Okay on January 02, 2025, 01:54:00 PMNot much of note from the epilogue, but it is funny to see Kajishima worry about if Paradise War gets an anime that he might not be able to put in a scene where a character takes a crap. Just remove it, bro. Hopefully, he can get a GXP novel out this year. Tanks for the translation Bob.

That's the most ridiculous thing to worry about. Seriously, Kajishima-sensei. Does a character taking a dump really add to the story? He did show Tenchi taking a dump though, I think in Night Before Carnival.

What is it with the Japanese scat fetish?

The content I'm here for.

I wonder why these are rated so low star-wise? I need to download them all though and read them.

Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki / Re: Novelous Translation App
Last post by AstroNerdBoy - February 24, 2025, 01:27:03 AM
Quote from: Ryo-Okay on January 25, 2025, 01:10:56 PMI wouldn't get my hopes up. However, if the GXP novels ever get an official translation it would likely be through some AI translation app like this. I think the chances of them getting picked up by any english publisher are almost 0.

You are correct. Seven Seas only picked up the True Tenchi Muyo! novels because there were only three of them. They felt those three novels would have long legs (and they did), so it wasn't as big a risk. However, the GXP novels are still going on and there are a ton of them. The risk is massive, especially since Tenchi and harem aren't the stars. Back in the day, a lot of Tenchi fans hated GXP 'cause Tenchi Inc. weren't the stars.

Quote from: GP cadet 87 on January 31, 2025, 04:29:28 PMWell, to be fair, I never would've thought that anyone would've picked up the True Tenchi novels to be translated either, but Seven Seas did do that.

So I'll always hold onto hope.

Haha! Well, I can tell you that it took ten years before Seven Seas decided to pull the trigger on True Tenchi Muyo!, and there were mitigating circumstances to get that through (including the fact that there were only three novels).

Quote from: Dr.Soviet on January 31, 2025, 06:03:20 PMHard to say if this app can do the job, I know Japanese fans have told me "Kajishima-san is a better animator than writer"

He's good at characters (including their designs) and world building lore. But even in the True Tenchi Muyo! novels, there were parts that the translator went, "What!?" 😂 And we see how some of the recent OVA's are a bit of a slog. (Though to be fair, they are more of a slog if you haven't done all your homework, which is another writing issue as far as I'm concerned.)

Quote from: DishonorableKnight on February 24, 2025, 12:51:26 AMThis is either a scam by Tenchiforum or a very ambitious project that we should support because it generates more interest in the series. Not sure which one it is yet.

If it is legitimate, great. However, I don't want to own the American comics. I read them and there's a reason they couldn't make it past six issues--they are cringe-awful (as I recall).

That said, this smells like a scam. Some undocumented publisher is able to get the rights from Kajishima-sensei and EXNOA? I suppose it is possible, but from my limited experience "in the biz" working on the True Tenchi Muyo! novels, Japan won't license to just anyone.

Further, does this new publisher even have the original artwork to use for a reprint? Or are they going to scan the comic books and try to get away with that? I have tons of questions.

Update: I made a video about it.

Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki / Tenchi Muyo! American Comics O...

No date yet on when the Kickstarter campaign will start.
Kickstarter Link
QuoteThis campaign aims to rejuvenate interest in the longstanding and storied Tenchi Muyo! franchise. If successfully funded, Armiger Entertainment will reprint 6 comic issues from 1997 into a single omnibus volume, in physical and digital PDF formats.

These comics only ever had a single print run back in the late 1990s and have never been reprinted. Armiger Entertainment believes that the story within these comics deserves to be enjoyed and owned by fans of Tenchi Muyo!, old and new alike.

Plus, if this project is deemed to be successful enough by rights holders in Japan, Armiger Entertainment can continue to tell fresh Tenchi Muyo! stories!

Armiger Entertainment has secured the right of first refusal, meaning the possibility of future Tenchi Muyo! installments in any medium featuring familiar favorites like Kiyone Makibi rests entirely on whether backers can go above and beyond the $US20,000 goal.

You know, the carnival comes and goes... well, it's finally back! So, don't miss it!

Promotional video narrated by Ryoko's English voice actress, Petrea Burchard:

BIG OLE NOTE BY THE ADMIN TEAM:
Posting here since most users don't read past the first post. What ever you decide to do at least take the following in to consideration, A write up by our resident Lawyer:

Hey, thanks for reaching out. After looking at the Kickstarter , I'm honestly not feeling very confident about it. Crowdfunding is always risky, and even legit projects can fail.

There's a real risk involved. Project leads can be held liable, either civilly or criminally (especially for fraud, not just incompetence). But pursuing legal action is often impractical, which is why some frauds get away with it. Even projects with big names have failed to deliver.

Unfortunately, there are some red flags here. First, we don't know who's actually behind the company, or the creative team that's supposed to be continuing the classic English Tenchi.

We also don't know the specifics of their deal with the Tenchi franchise owners. They mention a "right of first refusal," but a right of first refusal for what? Reprints? Continuing the story? Both? Those are very different things.

AIC/Toei have stated they intend to continue Tenchi directly, so it's unlikely they'd allow a competing product.

The fact that we don't know who these "Japanese rights holders" are is also concerning. Publicly, we know AIC and Toei co-own the Tenchi franchise. Exnoa seems to be a licensee, not a rights holder. It's possible Exnoa or another company holds subsidiary rights, like how Toei Animation is a subsidiary of Toei Studio.

What's concerning is that Armiger Entertainment hasn't said who they talked to. Licensing is usually handled by a legal department. They're being vague. Which company did they even reach?

Their claim that the rights holders need to "see enthusiasm" is also suspicious. If they actually talked to them, they'd be asking for money, not "enthusiasm."

There's no information on who's handling reprints or distribution, either.

I think we should be very skeptical of this project. It's possible they're telling the truth, maybe they're well-meaning but naive fans. But they haven't given enough proof of their claims or how they plan to achieve their goals to give any confidence.

Admin: Just wanna highlight the above here as this could be the case but we really don't know. Use caution and your best judgement.
